A cave carved into a sea cliff or headland by the erosive force of breaking waves, typically exploiting a line of weakness such as a fault or a joint in the rock that concentrates the wave energy at a single point. Continued erosion of a sea cave can eventually break through a headland entirely, producing a sea arch.
