San Ignacio is a town in Cayo District in western Belize, on the west bank of the Macal River across from its twin town of Santa Elena. It is the commercial center of the Cayo District's agricultural and tourism economy, serving as a gateway to nearby Maya archaeological sites such as Xunantunich and Cahal Pech and to the Mountain Pine Ridge forest reserve. The town lies close to the Guatemalan border and has grown into Belize's leading inland tourism and adventure-travel hub.
