San Ramon is a city in Alajuela province in the central highlands of Costa Rica, on the Pan-American Highway west of the capital San Jose. It is known within Costa Rica as the city of presidents and poets for having produced a disproportionate number of the country's heads of state and literary figures relative to its size. The surrounding highlands support coffee and dairy farming, and the city is home to a regional campus of the University of Costa Rica.
