Gulf Coast of the United States

The Gulf Coast of the United States, also called the Gulf South or South Coast, is the stretch of coastline where the Southern United States meets the Gulf of Mexico, running through the five Gulf States, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida. Its economy centers on energy, petrochemicals, fishing, aerospace, agriculture, and tourism, supported by major ports and cities running from west to east that include Brownsville, Corpus Christi, Houston, Galveston, Beaumont, Lake Charles, Lafayette, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Gulfport, Biloxi, Mobile, Pensacola, Panama City, St. Petersburg, and Tampa, each anchoring its own metropolitan area.
