Ciudad Cuauhtemoc is a city in west central Chihuahua state, Mexico, about 103 kilometers west of Chihuahua City, with a 2015 population of 168,482. Originally called San Antonio de los Arenales, it was officially made a city on January 9, 1948, and it grew significantly after Mennonite communities arrived in the 1920s and made it a major trading center. Known as the City of Three Cultures for its Mennonite, Mestizo and Raramuri communities, with Spanish, English and Plautdietsch as recognized languages, the surrounding region produces a large share of Mexico apples.
