Leon, officially Leon de los Aldama, is the most populous city and municipal seat of the municipality of Leon in the Mexican state of Guanajuato, with about 1.58 million people reported living in the city in the 2020 census. Long known as Mexico's shoemaking capital for its concentration of leather and footwear manufacturers, Leon remains a major industrial and commercial center in the Bajio region of central Mexico.
