San Luis Potosi, commonly called San Luis or by its initials SLP, is the capital and most populous city of the Mexican state of San Luis Potosi and the municipal seat of the surrounding municipality of the same name. It lies at an elevation of 1,864 meters, with an estimated population of 824,229 in the city proper and about 1,221,526 across its metropolitan area, formed together with the neighboring city of Soledad de Graciano Sanchez, making Greater San Luis Potosi the eleventh-largest metropolitan area in Mexico.
