Centennial is a home rule city in Arapahoe County, Colorado, United States, with a population of 108,418 at the 2020 census, which made it the 11th most populous municipality in Colorado. It is a principal city of the Denver-Aurora-Centennial metropolitan statistical area and part of the Front Range Urban Corridor. The city was incorporated on February 7, 2001, from unincorporated Arapahoe County, including the former Castlewood and Southglenn census-designated places, and at the time was the largest incorporation in United States history. Its name recalls Colorado entering the Union in 1876, the centennial year of the Declaration of Independence. Voters made it a home rule city in 2008.
