Jackson

Northern America

Jackson is the capital and most populous city of the U.S. state of Mississippi, sitting on the Pearl River in the greater Jackson Prairie region. Union forces set the city on fire during the 1863 siege of Jackson in the Civil War, and in the 1920s Jackson surpassed Meridian to become the state's largest city following a natural gas boom.
