Napa is the largest city in and the county seat of Napa County, California, in the North Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area. Incorporated on March 23, 1872, the city covers about 18.35 square miles along the Napa River as it flows toward San Pablo Bay. It had roughly 76,921 residents as of July 2024, following a 2020 census count of 79,246, and operates under a mayor and council government. Napa functions as a principal city of California's Wine Country and is a major tourist destination known for its wineries, restaurants, and arts culture.
