Area Band

This dimension groups states by how much territory each one covers. Wikipedia notes that a federated state can hold jurisdiction "over a defined geographic territory," and that territory's own size varies enormously from one state to another within the same country. Browsing by area band separates the largest states or provinces from the smallest.
