Torres del Paine National Park

National Park

Torres del Paine National Park is a national park encompassing mountains, glaciers, lakes and rivers in southern Chilean Patagonia, established in 1959 and named for the three granite towers, the Torres del Paine, that dominate its skyline. The park is administered by Chile's Corporacion Nacional Forestal and protects a landscape shaped by the Patagonian Ice Sheet, including the Grey Glacier and turquoise glacial lakes, along with guanaco, puma and Andean condor populations. It is one of the most visited protected areas in Chilean Patagonia and forms part of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
