Iguazu National Park, established in 1934 in Argentina's Misiones Province, protects the Argentine side of the Iguazu Falls and the surrounding subtropical jungle, covering about 677 square kilometers within the Alto Parana Atlantic forests ecoregion. The falls sit on the Iguazu River, which widens to as much as 1,500 meters within the park, and the surrounding forest supports jaguars, ocelots, tapirs, harpy eagles, toucans and yacare caimans, along with flora including the ceibo, Argentina's national flower, lapacho trees and palo rosa trees reaching 40 meters in height. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984. The Argentine park lies on one bank of the Iguazu River, opposite Brazil's separately administered Iguacu National Park on the far bank.

Is Iguazú National Park the same as Iguaçu National Park in Brazil?
They are two sister parks in different countries.
No. They are sister parks on opposite banks of the Iguazú or Iguaçu River. Iguazú National Park is in Argentina, while Iguaçu National Park in Brazil is a separate World Heritage property that was inscribed in 1986. Together they conserve one of the most significant remnants of the Interior Atlantic Forest.
