Piti Bomb Holes Marine Preserve

Habitat and Species Management Area

Piti Bomb Holes Marine Preserve protects a stretch of reef along Piti Bay on the western coast of Guam, near the village of Piti in the Philippine Sea. Established in 1999, the preserve covers about 3.64 square kilometers and is one of five marine protected areas in Guam, described by the territory Agriculture Director as existing to help reef fish stocks replenish, corals recover, and waters remain a healthy habitat. It is named for distinctive freshwater percolation pits in its reef flat that resemble bomb craters, and it hosts the Fish Eye Marine Park underwater observatory, which draws more than 200,000 visitors a year. Placed here as Habitat and Species Management Area, a disclosed closest fit: the source states no IUCN category.
