Pembrokeshire Coast National Park

Protected Landscape and Seascape

Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is a national park in Pembrokeshire, Wales, established in 1952 under the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949. It is the only national park in the United Kingdom made up largely of coastal landscape, covering about 629 square kilometers and taking in 420 kilometers of coastline as well as the upper reaches of Milford Haven and the Preseli Mountains to the north. Its coast has rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, wooded estuaries and geological features including natural arches, sea stacks and sea caves. The islands of Grassholm, Skomer and Skokholm within the park are important seabird breeding sites, and the park holds 75 Sites of Special Scientific Interest and six national nature reserves, along with historic sites such as the Pentre Ifan burial chamber. It is managed by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, based in Pembroke Dock.
