Tatarstan, officially the Republic of Tatarstan and sometimes called Tataria, is a republic of Russia in the Volga Federal District, whose capital and largest city, Kazan, is a major cultural center. The republic's main source of wealth is oil, supporting a strong petrochemical industry.
