River Basin

River Basins and Drainage Basins

The entire area of land drained by a river and all of its tributaries, bounded by the surrounding higher ground that separates it from neighboring basins. A river basin functions as a single hydrological unit, collecting precipitation across its whole area and funneling it toward the main river's outlet.
