Stratovolcano

Rock Formations and Monoliths

A steep-sided, symmetrical, cone-shaped volcanic mountain built up from alternating layers of hardened lava, ash and volcanic rock debris, produced by a history of both effusive lava flows and explosive eruptions from the same central vent. Mount Fuji and Mount Rainier are widely recognized examples of this steep, classically volcano-shaped landform.
