Volcanic Crater

Rock Formations and Monoliths

A bowl-shaped depression at the summit or on the flank of a volcano, surrounding the vent through which magma, ash and gas have erupted to the surface. A volcanic crater is generally smaller and more directly tied to a single eruptive vent than the much larger collapse depression of a caldera.
