The Amundsen Sea is an arm of the Southern Ocean off Marie Byrd Land in western Antarctica, lying between Cape Flying Fish to the east and Cape Dart on Siple Island to the west. Cape Flying Fish marks its boundary with the neighboring Bellingshausen Sea, and west of Cape Dart there is no further named marginal sea of the Southern Ocean until the Ross Sea. A Norwegian expedition under Captain Nils Larsen named the sea for the polar explorer Roald Amundsen while exploring the area in February 1929.
