The Sea of Crete, or Cretan Sea, is a sea forming the southern part of the Aegean Sea, with a total surface area of about 45,000 square kilometers. It stretches north of the island of Crete, east of Kythera and Antikythera, south of the Cyclades and west of the Dodecanese islands of Rhodes, Karpathos and Kassos, bounded to the west by the Ionian Sea.
