Cuiaba

Cuiaba is the capital and largest city of the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso, located near the geographical center of South America, and forms a metropolitan area with the neighboring town of Varzea Grande. Its name is an indigenous Bororo word meaning arrow-fishing. The city was founded in 1719 during a gold rush and has been the state capital since 1818, serves as a trading center for an extensive cattle-raising and agricultural region, and was one of the host cities for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
