Leticia

Leticia is the capital of the Amazonas Department of Colombia and the southernmost city in the country, sitting on the Amazon River near the point where Colombia, Brazil and Peru meet, an area known as Tres Fronteras. The 2018 census recorded about 48,144 residents in the municipality, with roughly 33,503 in the urban core; combined with the neighboring Brazilian city of Tabatinga and the Peruvian settlement of Santa Rosa de Yavari, the shared urban area holds more than 120,000 people. The city sits at 96 meters elevation with a tropical rainforest climate and functions as one of the major ports on the Amazon River. Isolated by geography with no road connection to the rest of Colombia, Leticia has become a significant tourist destination and a center for Spanish language study.
