San Andres

San Andres is the capital of the Colombian department of San Andres, Providencia and Santa Catalina, an archipelago in the Caribbean Sea about 775 kilometers northwest of mainland Colombia. The city sits on San Andres Island, the largest island in the archipelago, which measures about 12 kilometers long and 3 kilometers wide. It serves as the administrative center for the insular department, which also includes Providencia and Santa Catalina islands to the northeast, and the 2018 official population estimate for the department was 61,280.
