FAQs

When was Phitsanulok founded?

Traditionally in 937.

According to a retrospective chronology derived from the textual evidence in the Ayutthaya Testimonies, the city of Phitsanulok was established in 937 by a monarch of Sankhaburi named Sudhammaraja. Because the date comes from a chronology compiled afterward rather than from a record of the time, it is best read as the traditional founding date.
