Municipalities of the Philippines

Philippine provincial capitals that hold the status of a municipality rather than a city: Basco in Batanes, Baler in Aurora, Virac in Catanduanes, San Jose de Buenavista in Antique, Naval in Biliran, La Trinidad in Benguet and Kabugao in Apayao. In the Philippines a municipality is the basic local government unit below a province, and a city is a separately chartered unit, so these seats of provincial government are grouped apart from the chartered cities of South-eastern Asia. A place belongs here when its own article describes it as a municipality of the Philippines.
