Hadley Cell Circulation

Atmospheric and Climatic Processes

A large-scale atmospheric circulation pattern in which warm air rises near the equator, flows poleward at high altitude, sinks around 30 degrees latitude, and returns equatorward near the surface as the trade winds. It is the tropical component of the three-cell model of global atmospheric circulation and drives the wet equatorial and dry subtropical climate belts.

Quote, Introduction
The Hadley cell, also known as the Hadley circulation, is a global-scale tropical atmospheric circulation that features air rising near the equator, flowing poleward near the tropopause at a height of 12-15 km (7.5-9.3 mi) above the Earth's surface, cooling and descending in the subtropics at around 30 degrees latitude, and then returning equatorward near the surface.
