Bermuda

Bermuda is a British Overseas Territory in the North Atlantic Ocean, about 1,035 kilometres east of the nearest land outside the territory, in the US state of North Carolina. It is an archipelago of 181 islands, although the most significant islands are connected by bridges and appear to form one landmass, with a land area of 54 square kilometres. Divided into nine parishes, it is a self-governing parliamentary democracy with a bicameral parliament in the capital, Hamilton. The House of Assembly dates from 1620, making it one of the world's oldest legislatures. The United Kingdom is responsible for its foreign affairs and defence, and an independence referendum held in 1995 was rejected by a large majority. It has a tropical climate with warm winters and hot summers and is prone to severe weather from tropical cyclones.
