Madauros was a Roman-Berber city in the ancient region of Numidia, in what is now Algeria, and later served as a diocese of the Catholic Church. The city was home to one of the oldest universities in the ancient world, with the University of Madaurus considered by some historians to be the earliest center of higher learning in North Africa, dating to the Roman era.
