Mavinga

Mavinga is a municipality in Angola that has served as the capital of Cuando Province since the creation of that province in 2024. The 2014 census recorded 27,196 residents across the municipality, with roughly 10,000 living in the urban area, and the Mbunda people make up the predominant population in one of only three Angolan municipalities where this is so. The town figures in Angolan Civil War history, referenced in a 1990 UNITA account of fighting between December 1989 and May 1990.
