Saurimo

Saurimo, formerly Henrique de Carvalho, is a city in northeastern Angola and the capital of Lunda Sul Province. Established in 1927 and granted city status in 1956, it sits at an elevation of about 1,084 meters and had a population of 589,792 recorded as steadily growing through migration. The city functions as a garrison and market town whose economy includes agriculture, diamond mining and fishing, and it is served by Saurimo Airport.
