Maun

Maun is a town in the North-West District of Botswana, on the Thamalakane River, and functions as the country's tourism capital and the administrative center of the Ngamiland district, serving as a gateway for safari and air-charter access to the Okavango Delta. It originated in 1915 as the tribal capital of the Batawana people and has grown from a frontier settlement into a hub with modern shopping centers and hotels while retaining a rural character, with wildlife such as red lechwe grazing alongside domestic animals along the riverside. Its population was about 85,293 at the 2022 census, making it Botswana's second-largest village.
