Buta is a city in the northern Democratic Republic of the Congo and the capital of Bas-Uele Province, lying on the Rubi River, a tributary of the Itimbiri. It had an estimated population of 55,313 in 2012 and is served by Buta Zega Airport. The city was historically an operational center for the Vicicongo railway line, which reached it on July 1, 1931.
