Lisala

Lisala is the capital of Mongala Province in the northwestern Democratic Republic of the Congo, situated on the Congo River. It had a population of 70,087 in 2015 and is the birthplace of Mobutu Sese Seko, who ruled Congo and Zaire from 1965 to 1997. The city is home to the Cathedrale Saint-Hermes, seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lisala, and Lomongo, Lingala and French are spoken there.
