Arish

Arish, also known as El-Arish, is the capital and largest city of the North Sinai Governorate of Egypt and the largest urban center on the Sinai Peninsula. It lies on the Mediterranean coast about 344 kilometers northeast of Cairo and 45 kilometers from the Egypt-Gaza border, at the mouth of the seasonal watercourse Wadi al-Arish. In antiquity and the early medieval period the city was known by the Greek name Rinokoroura. As of 2023 it had a population of 204,391 across an area of about 308 square kilometers.
