Edfu

Edfu is a city in the Aswan Governorate of Egypt, on the west bank of the Nile River between Esna and Aswan. It has a population of approximately 60,000 as of 2023 across a governorate-recorded area of 2,304 square kilometers. Edfu is best known as the site of the Ptolemaic Temple of Horus, built between 237 and 57 BC, and of the ancient settlement of Tell Edfu, whose archaeological remains span more than 3,000 years from the Old Kingdom through the Graeco-Roman period.
