Shalateen is the largest town in the Halaib Triangle, a territory disputed between Egypt and Sudan, about 520 kilometers south of Hurghada. It functions as the administrative center for Egyptian-controlled territory up to the Sudanese border, overseeing nearby villages including Abu Ramad, Halaib, Ras Hadarba, Marsa Hameera, and Abrak.
