Nakuru, sometimes referred to as Nakuru City, is the capital and largest city of Nakuru County, Kenya, with an urban population of about 571,000 as of 2019. Lying along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway about 160 kilometers from the capital, Nakuru sits near Lake Nakuru National Park, famed for its flocks of flamingos, and serves as a major agricultural trading and market center in Kenya's Rift Valley.
