Vohemar

Vohemar, also known by the Malagasy names Vohimarina and Iharana, is a coastal city and municipality in the Sava Region of northern Madagascar, with a population of 22,047 as of 2018. It likely began around the 13th century as a Swahili trading port, one of several merchant-ruled settlements on Madagascar's northern coast, and its economy today rests mainly on services and agriculture, with cassava as the leading crop alongside peanuts, maize, and rice.
