Agadir is a major city in Morocco, on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean near the foot of the Atlas Mountains, just north of where the Souss River flows into the sea. Almost entirely rebuilt after a devastating 1960 earthquake destroyed the old city, modern Agadir is planned around wide boulevards and beachfront hotels, and today functions as one of Morocco's leading seaside resort destinations and fishing ports.
