Al Hoceima is a city on the northern edge of the Rif Mountains and on the Mediterranean coast of northern Morocco, serving as the capital of Al Hoceima Province. Surrounded by the highest peaks of the Central Rif, including Mount Tidghin at 2,452 meters, the city was a focal point for the Republic of the Rif from 1921 to 1926 and remains a cultural center for the Ayt Waryaghar tribe. It is a known tourist destination despite its small size, with a population of about 50,225.
