Manica is a market town in Manica Province in western Mozambique, lying west of the provincial capital Chimoio near the border with Zimbabwe, with a population of 36,124 at the 2006 census. It was historically the center of the Kingdom of Manica and grew around the regional gold trade, and it is known today for the nearby Chinamapere rock paintings, with the Penha Longa Mountains rising to its north.
