Asaba

Asaba is the capital of Delta State in southern Nigeria, on the western bank of the Niger River roughly 160 kilometres upstream from where the river reaches the Atlantic. Founded in 1884, it once served as the colonial capital of the Southern Nigeria Protectorate and today is home to the Anioma people, who speak the Enuani dialect of Igbo, alongside a growing cosmopolitan population. Its 2006 census population was 149,603, and in October 2023 it joined the UNESCO Creative Cities Network as a City of Film.
