Damaturu is a city in northeastern Nigeria that serves as the capital of Yobe State and headquarters of both the Damaturu Emirate and the state government, where the governor resides and the state's ministries, departments and agencies are based. The 2006 census recorded a population of 88,014, with a 2022 estimate of 137,900, and the city hosts several tertiary institutions including Yobe State University and Federal Polytechnic Damaturu.
