Dutse

Dutse is the capital of Jigawa State in northern Nigeria, its name derived from the Hausa word for rock in reference to the area's rocky terrain. A 2022 estimate put its population at 431,800, and the city is home to Federal University Dutse, established in November 2011, along with a state polytechnic and a research institute for date palms.
