Lokoja

Lokoja is the capital of Kogi State in central Nigeria, sited at the confluence of the Niger and Benue rivers. The modern settlement was established in 1857 by the British explorer William Baikie and later served as the capital of the Northern Nigeria Protectorate and Nigeria's first seat of colonial government under Governor-General Sir Frederick Lugard. Its infobox population as of 2020 was 692,050, and the city has been projected as the third fastest growing city on the African continent between 2020 and 2025.
