Louga is a city in northwestern Senegal that serves as a cattle market center, with road and rail links to the port city of Saint-Louis to the northwest and Dakar to the southwest. It lies at the northern limits of Senegal's peanut-growing area, in a region called the Ndiambour that was once part of the Cayor province, and is inhabited by the pastoral Fulani and the sedentary farming Wolof peoples.
