Seychelles is an archipelagic country of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean, about 1,500 kilometers east of mainland Africa. It is the smallest country in Africa and the least populated sovereign African country. It gained independence from the United Kingdom on 29 June 1976. Its capital is Victoria.
