Also known as Mjini District, one of two administrative districts of the Mjini Magharibi Region in Tanzania and the largest city on the island of Zanzibar, located on the west coast of Unguja, the main island of the Zanzibar Archipelago, north of Dar es Salaam across the Zanzibar Channel. Its district seat is in Stone Town, it serves as the capital of the Zanzibar Urban/West Region, and its 2022 population was 219,007.
