Niamtougou

Niamtougou is a market town and the district capital of Doufelgou District in the Kara Region of Togo, 28 kilometers north of the city of Kara along the country's main north-south highway. Its population was about 24,000 in 2005, and the town comprises the villages of Niamtougou, Koka, Baga, Tenega, Yaka and Agbande. Niamtougou hosts one of the region's largest weekly markets, held every Sunday, and is home to Niamtougou International Airport, Togo's second largest airport after Lome's Tokoin International Airport, located 4 kilometers north in Baga. The town also houses local administrative offices for interior, education and rural development ministries.
